Big Construction News that could effect how long it takes to get to that Mavs game..

We all know about The Park (known to 99% of us as the Woodall Rodgers Park).. well the “ground making” last month wasn’t just a ceremony to remind people about this amazing project.  They’re starting full force now..complete with lovely street and lane closures.

Here’s latest info we have on construction… don’t come to Chase Tower and punch me if you experience something different… I’m just a monkey repeating what I know!

  • Harwood Street bridge will close in preparation for demolition on the morning of Monday, October 19 –  barricades, traffic control measures and detours will be in place.
  • The St. Paul Street exit will close on Wednesday morning, October 21.  St. Paul Street will still have all lanes open to traffic.
  • The Woodall Rodgers Freeway frontage roads, both east and westbound will remain open with the lane nearest the construction (the left lane) closed for the duration of the project and occasional closings of other lanes for special projects.  At the beginning of the project, the middle lane of the Woodall Rodgers Freeway frontage will be closed as the workers set up for construction, but will reopen in a few days.   There should not be a time when all of the frontage road lanes are impassable.
  • TXDoT will close Woodall Rodgers Freeway on weekends, which they have deemed “off-peak hours”.  Typically the closure will begin at 9pm on Friday evening and end no later than 5am on the following Monday morning.  The first two weekends of closures are the weekends of October 23 (closing at 9pm on October 23 and reopening no later than 5am on October 26) and October 30 (closing around 11:00 p.m. on October 30 and reopening no later than 5am on November 2).

Please log onto the TxDOT website for further traffic updates  at In addition, TxDOT will be posting all construction traffic information on the Mobility section of The Park’s new website

Indeed! Growing pains, my friends…just growing pains! We survived for more than a year with the Live Oak “LEFT EXIT” closed, didn’t we??

Okay, I admit – this is a bit more complicated, but please join me in keeping the end in sight. And come on, who can’t use an honest to goodness excuse for being late to work?

Thanks for helping us get the word out and for keeping a good sense of humor! Congrats also on Main Street Garden.
